Seasoned traveller, journalist, cook and filmmaker Kylie Flavell is the host, producer, creator, camera operator and editor of several food and travel shows including Hooked Up, which is reaching an average of 1.2 million views per episode online and TV shows across NatGeo and Discovery in 68 countries such as ‘Amore Al Dente: Classic Italian Food Stories’, ‘When Patrick Met Kylie: A Love of Food Story’, ‘When in Rome’ (series one and two), ‘When in Florence’ and ‘The Expat Diary’.

Kylie left home at 17 to study in Japan, moonlighting as a Japanese translator. In between completing her degree, she ran away to Paris before living briefly in Barcelona and Florence. She became a business magazine editor and publisher in Australia, interviewing superbrand CEOs and marketing directors around the world such as Disney, Vogue and IKEA. She then added editorial fashion director to her skill set, coordinating magazine fashion shoots with luxury labels including Lanvin, Prada, Dior, Bulgari and Louis Vuitton. But her true passion has always been for Italy. So one day she abandoned the corporate world and moved there, convinced life could look like a film if you had courage and imagination. She co-founded Romeing, Italy’s leading magazine and site for expats and tourists, for which she wrote a monthly column A Life Romantic.

She was keen to share her local view of Italy with other Italophiles and dreamers lusting for a more cinematic life. She was also frustrated by overly scripted superficial travel and lifestyle content. So she taught herself to film and video edit and now creates shows completely alone as a one-girl production company.

Kylie grew up living onboard a boat in a family that always made everything from scratch. She learned to cook Italian spending time in kitchens and restaurants all over Italy. In 2013 she was awarded a culinary diploma from Academia Barilla.

She is a fierce optimist and drawn to projects that make people feel better about their potential, dreaming and humanity.
